Mrs. Hickman grew up spending a lot of time with senior adults, has always enjoyed their company, and is happy to now be in a position to provide legal services to them as an Elder Law Attorney. Mrs. Hickman began her career as a legal assistant at an Orange Park business transaction and estate planning law firm. Her work at the firm inspired her legal career, which eventually led her to start and run a successful sole proprietorship practicing in the areas of Estate Planning, Real Estate, and Bankruptcy for two and a half years before joining the Law Firm of Grady H. Williams, Jr., LL.M., P.A. Mrs. Hickman has lived in North Florida for more than 35 years and many of her family members also reside in the area. She moved to Florida from Christchurch, New Zealand as a child and has yet to find a good reason to leave the great Jacksonville weather and people. Mrs. Hickman is an advocate for education. She has been involved in the Clay County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Committee since 2011 and presents educational workshops for seniors on a regular basis. She also enjoys interacting with area youth by volunteering as a Teen Court Judge for the Clay County juvenile diversionary program. Mrs. Hickman has been the a member of the Executive Council and the Co-Chair of the Technology Committee for the Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar since 2016. She is a member and Past President of the Clay County Bar Association, is a member the Northeast Florida Estate Planning Council, has volunteered as the Co-Chair of the Jacksonville Bar Association Elder Law Section since 2016, and has served on the Penney Retirement Community Board of Directors since 2013. In her spare time, Mrs. Hickman enjoys gardening, reading, puzzles, participating in car shows, and spending time with her husband, Mike, and their pets. |
