Andrew’s practice focuses primarily on intellectual property matters including all aspects of litigation, prosecution, and counseling.After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001 with a B.A. in English, Andrew taught reading classes to dyslexic students in elementary school before deciding to go to law school. While attending law school at the University of Iowa, Andrew developed a fascination with intellectual property law. He decided to get an engineering degree to help strengthen his abilities and focus his career on this area. After graduating from law school, he earned a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas in 2009.Andrew spent the first six and a half years of his career at Nix, Patterson & Roach, serving in the firm’s intellectual property litigation and licensing department. Andrew has extensive experience in all aspects of patent litigation, including initial case assessment, discovery, claim construction, summary judgment, trial preparation, and appeals as well as mediations, settlement discussions, and both litigation and non-litigation licensing efforts. During his time at Nix, Patterson & Roach, Andrew argued numerous hearings in Federal Court, including several Markman, Summary Judgment, and Pre-Trial Hearings. He also participated in the DataTreasury series of cases and assisted trial counsel in Syntrix v. Illumina, a case that resulted in the largest patent infringement verdict in Washington State history. |
