| Description | Prior to joining Trainor, Billman in 2006, Carroll L. McCabe spent 13 years working as a felony trial attorney in Maryland’s Office of the Public Defender and eight years in her own firm in Annapolis. Throughout her career, she has been involved in the defense of many high profile and complex criminal cases, including the defense of a number of capital cases, in Maryland state and federal courts. Ms. McCabe also has experience in state and federal grand jury investigations. In addition to representing clients in criminal cases, Ms. McCabe also represented clients in immigration matters, including naturalization, permanent residency and political asylum. For several years, she worked, pro bono, as the legal representative for OHLA, the Organization of Hispanics and Latin Americans of Anne Arundel County. During her tenure at the Public Defender’s Office, Ms. McCabe was one of the attorneys responsible for organizing continuing legal educations seminars and conferences for the entire statewide agency. Active in the Maryland Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, Ms. McCabe has served in various offices on the organization’s Board of Directors. She has been a presenter at seminars on legal issues and has given lectures on legal topics to community groups and schools. Ms. McCabe taught criminal justice classes to college students at the Anne Arundel County Community College and to gifted and talented middle school students taking classes at Anne Arundel Community College. She has also testified before the Maryland House and Senate Judiciary Committees on various legal topics. Among McCabe’s professional memberships are the Anne Arundel County Bar Association, the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. Ms. McCabe has been involved, as a volunteer, in a number of activities held for the benefit of the local Anne Arundel County immigrant community. |
