McKenzie earned his undergraduate degree from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee, and went on to earn a Master of Divinity from Duke University and his Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University, both in Durham. Mr. McKenzie joined the firm in 2015 after heading Sands Anderson PC’s North Carolina litigation division for over four years. Previously, he was a private practitioner specializing in litigation. He is known for litigating matters to verdict before all North Carolina courts, federal and state, including the NC Business Court, as well as the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.David has tried matters pertaining to copyright (including international copyright), trademark and patent infringement, antitrust, the interplay between free speech and IP protection, misappropriation of trade secrets, constitutional questions (including freedom of speech, assembly and religion), breach of contract and other business torts.
