Description | HENRY H. BOLZ, III was born on May 24, 1949 in West Point, New York. He attended the United States Military Academy and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1971. After completing his five year military obligation as an Infantry Officer, he attended the University of Florida School of Law and received his juris doctorate in 1978. At the University of Florida he was an editor of the Law Review.Upon graduation from law school he moved to Miami where he has been continuously engaged in civil litigation trial practice, beginning as an associate and then as a partner at Smathers & Thompson. After Smathers & Thompson merged with Kelley Drye & Warren in 1987, he was a partner at Kelley Drye & Warren through 1994. From 1995 through 2002, he was Of Counsel to Clarke Silverglate Campbell Williams & Montgomery. In March 2002, he joined John W. Keller, III with whom he formed their partnership – Keller & Bolz, LLP.His practice has involved many aspects of civil litigation with a primary emphasis on maritime and admiralty law, personal injury and insurance defense. More specifically in Admiralty, he has experience with Limitation of Liability actions, personal injury and wrongful death claims arising under the Jones Act, LHWCA, DOHSA, and general maritime law, collision, property damage, maritime products liability, vessel charter contracts, maritime liens, salvage, vessel arrests, U.S. Marshal’s sales, and the pursuit and defense of cargo claims (COGSA, the Harter Act, Carmack Amendment/ICC Termination Act of 1995, Warsaw Convention, Hague Convention). Mr. Bolz is also experienced in drafting vessel charter contracts, Bills of Lading, vessel mortgages, and other documents. His insurance practice has included numerous coverage claims and defenses under CGL, Maritime Liability, Hull and P&I policies (bluewater and yacht policies).The practice of Mr. Bolz has included numerous commercial disputes involving a broad range of factual/legal problems and issues in numerous state and federal trial courts throughout the State of Florida and, from time to time, in other states. In addition to trial work, Mr. Bolz has extensive experience in both the prosecution and defense of appeals in both the state and federal systems. |
