DescriptionJeremy Kennedy joined Pear Sperling Eggan & Daniels, P.C., in January 2013, working out of its Ann Arbor office. Mr. Kennedy primarily practices in the areas of litigation, real estate, commercial transactions, and labor and employment law. Mr. Kennedy has handled numerous litigation matters in state and federal courts; lead labor negotiations; and negotiated various complex commercial transactions, including business licensing and sales transactions. Prior to coming to Pear Sperling Eggan & Daniels, P.C., Mr. Kennedy worked in private practice at a boutique litigation firm in Bloomfield Hills where he was a supervising attorney, responsible for overseeing litigation matters, determining case strategy, conducting discovery, and overseeing all phases of the law suit, from the pre-suit investigation stage through resolution of the matter, whether by settlement, trial, or appeal. Mr. Kennedy also previously served as an assistant city attorney for the City of Westland and as general counsel to a local transit authority in western Wayne County.Mr. Kennedy is a 2001 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, where he participated in the Michigan criminal law clinical program, working on a federal habeas corpus appeal. In 1999 Mr. Kennedy earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, graduating with honors in political science and English. His political science senior thesis examined the use of mass warrantless searches in the Chicago housing projects during the 1990s as a means to protect the safety of the residents living in the housing projects, and the appropriateness of these tactics in a liberal democratic society. Mr. Kennedy recently published an article entitled The Proper Role of Standing Under Michigan Law, in which he examined and discussed the relationship and confusion between capacity to sue and standing under Michigan law.
