| Description | John Portman has devoted the vast majority of his 32 years as a lawyer to successfully assisting people being investigated for or accused of committing crimes. He served as a deputy public defender in the Jefferson County regional office for 9 years, where he was the Senior Trial Deputy. He also served for 9 years as the Regional Office Head in the Arapahoe County Public Defender’s Office.Mr. Portman is an experienced courtroom lawyer, having taken more than 80 jury cases to verdict. He has successfully defended people accused of all manner of felony and misdemeanor cases, including the acquittal of a client facing the death penalty. He also successfully defended the first murder case to go to trial under the Colorado make my day law in 1987. He has taught and lectured other lawyers on topics concerning many aspects of criminal law and trial practice. He believes it is his proven capability and willingness to take cases to trial that enables him to obtain desired outcomes for his clients. |
