| Description | Maisie A. Barringer is a native Texan and a strong advocate for family law issues and clients. Graduating from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, she returned to her true passion and earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 2005. She shortly thereafter opened her own successful law practice in Houston, Texas. Her advocacy and professionalism culminated in her partnership in the prestigious Jenkins & Kamin, L.L.P., law firm in March of 2013.Ms. Barringer realizes the opportunities and challenges that present themselves to individuals, families and children. Influenced by her experiences as a single parent, her passion for helping others through the legal process, whether facilitating adoptions or assisting clients with moving on to healthier, more rewarding life situations, makes her a successful mediator, litigator and advocate. She litigates cases before the bench as well as juries, and provides expert documentation for pleadings, motions and appellate briefs. She is also an advocate for victim’s rights, recently testifying before the Texas Senate and House for Jenny’s Bill, which passed, ensuring legal counsel for victim witnesses.Ms. Barringer was selected as the 2009 Professionals on the Fast Track by H Texas Magazine and as a Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star by Texas Monthly and Texas Super Lawyers magazines for 2008-2010 and 2012-2016. She is board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, has served on the Board of Directors of the Houston Bar Association Family Law Section, is an active member of the Texas State Bar Family Law Section, Burta Rhoades Raborn American Inns of Court, the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Additionally, she has served as the Chair of the Trial Practice and Techniques Committee for the American Bar Association, Family Law Section.Ms. Barringer donates her time by speaking at various Continuing Legal Education seminars, serving on the Texas Family Law Foundation Bill Review Committee, as well as advocating ethics in the practice of family law. |
