| Description | Robin S. Abramowitz, an AV Preeminent peer review rated attorney, is a partner in and co-chairs the firm’s Litigation practice group. Ms. Abramowitz’ areas of practice include arbitration and mediation, commercial litigation, construction litigation, matrimonial law and bankruptcy. Ms. Abramowitz has represented a wide range of clients including, subcontractors, general contractors, suppliers and owners in construction litigation, residential and commercial landlords in landlord/tenant proceedings, individuals and corporations in commercial litigation, individuals in matrimonial and borrowers and lenders in mortgage foreclosure actions. Ms. Abramowitz is admitted to practice in the States of New York and Florida, before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the United States District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. She is an arbitrator on the Long Island General Commercial Panel and the Construction Panel for the American Arbitration Association. Ms. Abramowitz is a graduate of the State University of New York, College at Geneseo (B.A. Magna Cum Laude, 1979), and the Hofstra University School of Law (J.D. with distinction, 1989), where she was a member of the Hofstra Law Review and the recipient of the Citation of Excellence for Procedural Courses and the Citation of Excellence for Debtor/Creditor. Ms. Abramowitz is a past President of the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association, past director of the Suffolk County Bar Association and a current member of the Professional Ethics & Civility Committee of the Suffolk County Bar Association. She was formerly Corresponding Secretary (2007-2008) and Vice President (2008-2009) of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, a Member of the Board of Managers of the Suffolk County Bar Pro Bono Foundation (1996-2002), an officer of the Suffolk Academy of Law, a Co-Chair of the ADR Committee for the Suffolk County Bar Association (2011-2012), and the Chairperson of the Bankruptcy/Insolvency Law Committee for the Suffolk County Bar Association (1998-1999). She is on the Board of Governors for the Attorney-Client Fee Dispute Resolution Program. Ms. Abramowitz has been a volunteer attorney for the Pro Bono Project’s Bankruptcy Screening Panel since 1993 and has represented bankruptcy and matrimonial clients referred by Nassau/Suffolk Law Services Pro Bono Project.
