| Description | Tanner Franklin is a knowledgeable and committed personal injury and employment trial lawyer dedicated to fighting for the rights of hard-working East Texans. Tanner comes from a long line of East Texans and understands East Texas. In fact, Tanner now lives on the same property in Etoile where his maternal grandfather was born and raised. Born in Nacogdoches, Tanner attended SFA’s Lab School and then Fredonia Hill Day School until 3rd Grade. In 1998, Tanner moved with his parents, first to San Antonio for a year, and then to Midland, where he graduated high school in 2007. Tanner then attended Texas A&M University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management in December 2010. After A&M, Tanner relocated to Washington, DC to work as a legislative intern for a U.S. Senator and a staff assistant for a U.S. Congressman. While he learned a great deal and made many wonderful friends in DC, Tanner quickly realized that he missed Texas and decided to return to Texas for law school. From 2012-2015, Tanner attended Baylor University’s School of Law, where he served as an executive editor for Baylor Law Review, was involved with various organizations and teams, and won multiple awards. Tanner graduated from Baylor Law School, Magna Cum Laude, in May 2015, becoming the first lawyer in his immediate family and second lawyer in his extended family. Based on his superior academic achievements in law school, Tanner was offered a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Marcia Crone, U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas, in Beaumont. While clerking for Judge Crone, Tanner learned as much as he could about federal court practice, research, and legal writing. Following the completion of his two-year clerkship, Tanner became an associate trial attorney at a prestigious personal injury and civil rights law firm in Beaumont. There, Tanner gained invaluable experience in both personal injury and employment law, which have become his passion. During his time at the firm, Tanner worked on personal injury and employment cases from first meeting the client until settlement or trial. Tanner successfully settled dozens of personal injury cases and tried multiple cases to a jury verdict as the sole lawyer. Tanner also worked extensively on dozens of employment discrimination cases (race, gender, and age), civil rights cases, and wrongful death cases in both state and federal court, including the Eastern and Southern Districts of Texas. In 2020, Tanner decided it was time to return home to Deep East Texas to practice law. He opened the Franklin Law Firm with the goal of serving the community by fighting for justice for those who have been killed, injured, or wronged.
