Rollins, a partner with WilliamsMcCarthy LLP, is a native of Mendota, Illinois, attended the University of Illinois on a federal Army ROTC scholarship and received his B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude with departmental distinction, in 1982. He graduated from Harvard Law School, magna cum laude, in 1985, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review. Following law school he served for over four years with the Judge Advocate General’s Corps of the United States Army. While stationed in the Pentagon, and later in Washington, D.C., he handled a variety of assignments involving government contract law, including reviewing contracts, advising government contracting officers and litigating bid protests and contract disputes. Mr. Rollins represents a variety of private companies and public agencies on general corporate and law of the workplace issues, including corporate organization and governance, contract formation and review, mergers and acquisitions, statutory and regulatory compliance, developing employment contracts, employee handbooks, and employment application forms, implementing and administering employee welfare benefit plans and both ERISA plans and non-ERISA plans, handling employee discipline and terminations, and defending employers against discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination claims. Mr. Rollins is an elected member of the Board of Education of the Rockford Public Schools and has chaired its Operations Committee since 2011. He served for nine years as a member of the board of directors of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, and has also previously served on the board of directors of the not-for-profit Discovery Center and Family Counseling Services (including terms as President of those boards), the Rock Valley College Foundation, the Dean’s Council of the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Rockford (on which he served as Vice President) and the Rockford Area Arts Council. He has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the Leading Lawyers Network, representing the top five percent of all attorneys in the State of Illinois, and has received an AV rating* from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating for attorneys. |
