Description | Darryl J. Bouganim’s practice area focuses primarily on the securities and insurance industries, representing both individuals and employees in arbitration, litigation, mediation and regulatory matters. Mr. Bouganim, originally from Toronto, Canada, is expanding Malecki Law’s representation of securities and insurance industry employees from promissory note, employment transition, U4/U5 issues and internal/external investigation and hearing issues, into the ability to represent foreign born HB-1 visa industry executives in matters involving immigration, as well as other employees in disability and even criminal issues. Bolstering his stellar background, Mr. Bouganim spent time interning at the United States Office of Personnel Management in Washington, D.C. on issues of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Labor Relations and Pay & Leave. Mr. Bouganim possesses more than a decade of insurance claims, consulting and management experience within the insurance industry, including at Liberty Mutual Insurance where he was a territory manager supervising and training teams of consultants, managing a large multi-million-dollar budget. He has also consulted for State Farm, Allstate and other major insurance carriers. He also has served as a subject matter expert for insurers and engaged in risk management, recommending how clients can minimize risk and future claim costs. Mr. Bouganim graduated at the top of his class, cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law, receiving the Jurisprudence Award for top class grades in Antitrust and Advanced Legal Research. His interest in securities law began there in the Michigan State University Investor Advocacy Clinic, where early in his legal career he represented investors in FINRA arbitration and mediation. After that, he was fortunate to work for a well-known New York securities attorney in Brooklyn, (a borough known for housing one of the largest Securities Fraud Units of the United States Attorney’s Office), where he worked on scores of investor arbitration cases from inception through hearing or settlement. In addition to his law degree, Mr. Bouganim has a Master’s Degree in Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He spent the early part of his career counseling and advocating on behalf of people with acquired disabilities, injured workers, and the homeless, an issue he cares deeply about.Professional Memberships: Member, Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association (PIABA) Member, New York City Bar Association: Disability Law Committee and Enhance Diversity in the Profession Committee |
