| Description | Erika earned her undergraduate degree at The University of Georgia Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. After a few years as a staff writer and bureau chief for South Georgia newspapers, she entered Mercer University Walter F. George School of Law, from which she received a juris doctor in 2002. During law school she had the opportunity to work for the Houston Circuit District Attorney’s Office, and continued her employment there for several years after graduation as an assistant district attorney. Later she returned to South Georgia to work for the Alapaha Circuit District Attorney’s Office and the Tifton Circuit District Attorney’s Office, which serves Irwin, Tift, Turner and Worth counties. In nearly twelve years a prosecutor, Erika tried dozens of jury trials and handled hundreds of cases spanning every type of crime, from speeding to homicide. Erika made the change to private practice and now represents clients in all types of legal situations, from business issues to family law. She continues to serve the people of the State of Georgia as a special appointed attorney general, representing the Division of Human Services in certain legal proceedings, most often appearing in juvenile court on behalf of the Department of Family and Children Services. Erika is very active in the Tifton community. |
