| Description | Caj Boatright grew up in the small west Texas town of Sweetwater. After graduating high school, he attended college at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, where he double majored in History and Political Science and graduated cum laude with Honors. While at Southwestern University, Caj earned multiple academic awards, was appointed to key positions in student leadership organizations and played on the varsity Golf Team. After earning his Bachelor’s degrees, Caj attended the University of Texas Law School, where he befriended Kurt Arnold and Jason Itkin.Upon earning his law degree, Caj joined Kelly Hart & Hallman LLP – the largest law firm in Fort Worth. While at Kelly Hart, Caj gained valuable experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in all types of litigation, spanning from complex commercial disputes to catastrophic personal injuries. He also worked on several significant appellate matters, which ultimately led him to accept a federal clerkship with the Honorable Reynaldo Garza, a Justice for the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.Two years after Kurt Arnold and Jason Itkin founded Arnold & Itkin, they recruited Caj to become the first attorney to join the duo at the firm. At the time, the firm had fewer than 10 employees, but it was already beginning to earn a reputation for winning big verdicts and settlements for its clients. Over the next two years, Caj won large cases for his clients in state and federal courts throughout the country. In December 2007, he tried a case with Kurt Arnold and Mike Pierce, obtaining a 7-figure verdict for a young woman severely injured by piece of oil field equipment that fell off of a truck. In early 2008, Caj obtained another 7-figure verdict in federal court in New Orleans for a boat captain who nearly drowned as a result of his company’s negligence. In addition to trial verdicts, Caj secured many favorable settlements for other clients based on Arnold & Itkin LLP’s unique method for working up its cases.In 2008, Caj took the opportunity to work as an in-house lawyer at ExxonMobil. For the next 5 years, Caj handled high-stakes upstream cases for ExxonMobil in Texas, Louisiana, Wyoming, and other states. He frequently oversaw cases involving hundreds of millions, and even billions, of dollars in potential exposure.In March 2013, Caj returned to Arnold & Itkin determined to use his broad range of trial and appellate experience to help victims whether wronged in a business transaction or injured by the negligence of others get their day in court. He has since received much recognition from his peers, being named a ‘Rising Star’ by Texas Monthly Magazine and a ‘Top Professional on the Fast Track’ by H Texas Magazine.Caj and his wife Jodi are active members at Kingwood United Methodist Church, where Caj teaches an adult Sunday School class. Jodi is on staff with Young Life, a high-school ministry with a presence throughout the United States and in various countries around the world. Caj spends most of his spare time in the outdoors and carting his three children from one sporting event to the next. |
