| Description | Anastasia Allmon was born in ChiÈ™inău, Moldova a small Eastern European country and former Soviet republic. Growing up in the chaos of the fallen Soviet Union, she witnessed widespread injustice and prejudice, intensified by a steady economic downfall. This environment instilled in her the importance of education, hard work, and perseverance, and gave rise to her passion for human rights and civil liberties, economics and public policy. Anastasia moved to the United States at the age of ten and later pursued her interests at Millsaps College, a liberal arts school in Jackson, Mississippi, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a minor in Political Science. Upon graduation, she sought a legal education at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in Oxford, graduating with a Juris Doctor and Certificate in Criminal Law. Anastasia is still fluent in Russian speaking, reading and writing. Anastasia’s scholastic commitment was recognized through Millsaps’ Presidential Scholarship, Mercedes-Benz Honors Scholarship, Else School of Business and Management Scholarship, and induction into Omicron Delta Epsilon an international honor society in Economics. Anastasia also received the Robinson Scholarship Award, which gave her the chance to study abroad in England, France, Italy, and Germany. During all four years of college, Anastasia worked at a law firm that focused on personal injury, product liability, and mass tort practice. She gained valuable insight and experience that strengthened her commitment to pursuing a legal education. Anastasia’s desire to attend law school was always driven by the aspiration to help people in need and to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. During her time in law school, Anastasia clerked for the Honorable Anthony Mozingo of the 15th Circuit Court of Mississippi, a corporate defense firm in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and a personal injury firm in Dallas, Texas. She further diversified her legal education by studying abroad at Cambridge University. She describes the most rewarding and meaningful experience of her law school career as working with the Mississippi Innocence Project. For those unfamiliar with the Project it is dedicated to exonerating the wrongfully convicted and strives to achieve criminal justice reform in Mississippi. This experience further fueled Anastasia’s desire to help ensure that all individuals receive equal protection under the law, despite racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic characteristics. Prior to joining Farris, Riley & Pitt, Anastasia worked for Child Support Services of Mississippi. Having experienced the hardships of a single parent household, she felt personally connected to this cause. She gained valuable courtroom experience and learned how to manage a large caseload, as she was responsible for all legal services associated with child support in four counties of southwest Mississippi. Anastasia prides herself on her ability to relate to individuals from all walks of life. Her approach to practicing law is rooted in the firm belief that each individual deserves to be treated with the utmost respect, compassion, and understanding. In her spare time, Anastasia enjoys traveling, painting, trying out new recipes, and spending time with friends and family.
