| Description | After completing law school at the University of Iowa College of Law, Ben joined a workers’ compensation defense firm in Cedar Rapids. He later moved to a large firm where he represented cities and counties and large employers in personal injury and employment lawsuits. He also represented officers in civil police misconduct actions. Ben left that firm in 2020 to start Community Law Office. I became a lawyer to help individuals. I did not feel like I was doing that at my old job. I wanted start something I believed in. I want to go to work every day and feel that I am living my values. That is why I started Community Law Office. Ben’s time defending large employers, cities, counties, and police officers gives him valuable insight into how defendants evaluate civil rights lawsuits.
