| Description | Christine is the head of MVS’s Trademark Department. Christine specializes in national and international trademark protection and intellectual property litigation. Christine has litigated trademark/trade dress infringement, patent infringement, unfair competition, counterfeiting, and cybersquatting cases before state and federal district court, and has successfully argued appeals before the Federal, Seventh, and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal. She has also managed U. S. and foreign oppositions and cancellations, and domain name disputes.Christine’s cases have included litigation in the fields of food and beverage, personal care products, arts and entertainment, banking, medical, industrial, consumer electronics and software, and patents directed to seed genetics, agricultural devices, and natural health products.Christine also regularly counsels clients regarding all aspects of trademark rights, including conducting national and international trademark clearance searches, registering trademarks, service marks, and trade dress, managing trademark portfolios, protection efforts, and advising clients on licensing arrangements.Prior to joining MVS, Christine worked as an associate at Morrison & Foerster and a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Robert W. Pratt in the Southern District of Iowa. She graduated with honors from the University of Iowa College of law, obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College, and is licensed to practice in Iowa, Massachusetts and California.Christine has been an adjunct law professor at Drake University and the University of Iowa, and has served as a Coach for Drake University’s IP Moot Court team, leading teams in the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition (Trademark) and the Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court Competition (Patent). Christine also serves on the Foundation Board of Iowa Legal Aid, and on Iowa Legal Aid’s Equal Justice After Hours committee. She belongs to Polk County Women’s Bar Association, through which she volunteers in a book club at the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women. |
