| Description | A native of Baton Rouge, Jim Moore received his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University (LSU). He then moved to Washington, D.C., where he became the Director of Development for the American Legislative Exchange Council, America’s largest national membership organization of state legislators. Five years later, Jim returned to Louisiana and LSU, where he received his Juris Doctor degree from the LSU Law Center. Jim then married his wonderful wife, Connie, and moved to Lafayette, LA, where he practiced: automotive casualty; general personal injury; maritime personal injury and admiralty; workers’ compensation; premises and landowner liability; law enforcement and emergency response liability; and, insurance contract interpretation. He returned to Baton Rouge in 1996, continuing in his prior practice fields, as well as litigation of disability and medical malpractice cases. Regardless of the field, he has always been a litigator. He has appeared before state courts of Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi, federal courts in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and Alabama, and he was the successful Counsel of Record in a matter brought before the United States Supreme Court involving sovereign immunity for American Indian Tribal Nations. He has been admitted to the Bars of all Louisiana state and federal district courts, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eastern and Southern federal district courts for Texas, and the Louisiana Coushatta Tribal Court. Jim is a Certified Mediator, authored the latest primer on Louisiana Insurance Guaranty Association law published by the Louisiana Law Review, and is a frequent speaker and instructor of continuing legal education classes for Louisiana attorneys. Jim is also the proud father of two awesome young adults, both at LSU and keeping the tradition alive. His proudest achievements (with some help from Connie) are his son, Jimmy, and daughter, Julia. They make everything matter, and they are proud their father is a part of the Murphy Law Firm, where he can devote all his efforts to helping injured persons in need of an experienced, compassionate trial attorney. |
