He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickinson College in 1985, and received his Juris Doctor from the National Law Center at George Washington University in 1990. While at Dickinson, Mr. Erly was a Charles P. Dana Scholar and the recipient of the William Lenox Avis Prize in U.S. History. In 1990, he was admitted to practice before the Maryland Court of Appeals, and before the United States District Court in 1991. Mr. Erly also practices before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.Mr. Erly is a member of the Calvert County, Maryland State, and American Bar Associations. From 1995 to 1996, he served as president of the Calvert County Bar Association.
