After undergrad he attended Seton Hall Law School and graduated with a J.D. While at Seton Hall he assisted immigrants with their immigration cases.He began his legal career as an attorney for the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone (UMEZ) as contract attorney for nonprofit government agency. At UMEZ he worked under the late criminal defense attorney Johnnie L. Cochran. He learned many trial skills and knowledge from Mr. Cochran. After this experience he worked at the Law Office of Jesus Pena in Jackson Heights, New York as am immigration attorney. Mr. Pena who is a nationally renowned immigration attorney taught him the basics of immigration law practice. He also practices Criminal Defense work and Family Law which is so much intertwined with immigration law. He litigated several criminal cases to successful verdicts on behalf of his clients. Joseph uses this knowledge to help immigration clients with criminal and family issues.Presently Joseph handles family and business immigration cases before the United States Citizen and Immigration Services. He also represents clients in Immigration Court and is an expert as many waivers, and forms of relief such as cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, 212c waiver, asylum and many other methods of successfully avoiding deportation and remaining in the United States as a permanent residence. |
