At our firm, she limits her practice exclusively to family law, including all aspects of divorce, custody, parenting time, alimony, child support and payment of college expenses, equitable distribution of assets and liabilities, premarital agreements, relocation out of state, and adoption. In addition, Ms. Capalbo represents individuals involved in domestic-violence disputes, including those seeking restraining orders as well as those defending themselves against such orders.Ms. Capalbo is also an experienced family-law mediator in both private and court-appointed divorce and post-divorce matters. In 2016, she completed 40 hours of training in order to be included in the roster of mediators for the Program for Mediation of Economic Aspects of Family Law Cases in multiple counties. Often, her expertise helps parties resolve concerns and reach amicable settlement agreements without the emotional and financial expense of litigation in court.As a very active member of the legal community, Ms. Capalbo is an appointed guardian ad litem (GAL) by the Superior Court of New Jersey. As a GAL, Ms. Capalbo is responsible for representing the best interests of children involved in custody disputes and parenting-time disagreements. Her job is to investigate the matter, interview the children, their parents, and other relevant parties, such as teachers and family members, then make recommendations to the court based on her findings.In addition to her work as a GAL, Ms. Capalbo volunteers her time as a panelist on the Union County Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel (MESP). In 2016, she also wrote a five-part blog series for Society of Grownups, a MassMutual Learning Initiative, that explored various divorce topics.A lauded attorney in her field, Ms. Capalbo was selected to the list of Rising Stars by New Jersey Super Lawyers magazine in both 2017 and 2018. The designation, which is given to less than 2.5 percent of New Jersey attorneys, recognizes the best attorneys in the state who are 40 years old or younger or have been practicing for 10 years or less. In 2014, Ms. Capalbo received the Avvo Clients’ Choice Award, which indicates that her clients have consistently rated her very highly.Ms. Capalbo was presented with the Avvo Client’s Choice Award in 2014 and again in 2019.
