| Description | During her life, my mom taught me many lessons. The one that I remember the most is to always fight for what you believe in and never lose sight of who you are and what you stand for.That is what I keep in mind as a lawyer. I want to make a difference, and my job allows me to do that. I’m passionate about achieving results for my clients and ensuring they are satisfied with the way I represent them.Many people seeking legal assistance find it intimidating and overwhelming. I want to make the process as simple as possible and help my clients feel comfortable and empowered. I believe in open and honest communication and enjoy talking to people on the phone instead of relying solely on email. My clients tell me they appreciate that personal communication, and also that I am thorough, detail-oriented, and efficient.I went to work after college instead of going straight to law school. I was an Executive Team Leader at Target, where I enjoyed working with my team and ensuring that we were following procedures to comply with regulations and legal requirements. Next, I worked for Alliance Abroad Group assisting international students and citizens obtain internship and training visas so they could experience life in the United States. It was a rewarding job that let me connect with people across the world and help them accomplish their life-long dreams.At that point, I realized that as an employment lawyer, I could combine the things I really enjoyed in my work: customer service and procedures for maintaining compliance with the law. I decided to take the leap and go to law school.As a law school student and after, I assisted low-income and undocumented workers recover unpaid wages, assisted persons with disabilities to find representation within the legal system, and helped people in the Houston community by working in the South Texas College of Law Family Clinic. I obtained certification as a Mediator from the state of Texas while working in the South Texas College of Law Mediation Clinic and worked to settle disputes involving employment, landlord-tenant disputes, and debt collection. Those experiences proved to me that I had made the right decision. I enjoy being a lawyer and I’m proud of the work I do with Dan Ross and the Ross Scalise Law Group.When I’m not working, you can find me spending time with my family, reading a book, watching some Netflix, taking a boxing class, or working in the garden.I’ve learned that life can be short, and so I fully commit myself to whatever I am doing at that moment. I make sure that I enjoy life to the fullest, whether it’s time with family and friends, making the world a better place through my work, reading a great book, or just having an ice-cold tea on a sunshiny day. |
