Born in Plymouth, England, and raised in Rochester Hills, Michigan, Melissa earned her Bachelor’s in English and Art Studio Design at the University of Notre Dame, where she graduated with Honors. While in college, Melissa was not only an accomplished student, but also a decorated athlete, representing the university as a varsity collegiate swimmer for all four years and making the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Academic Honor Roll. Melissa then attended the University of Miami School of Law with ambitions of living and practicing law, a dream she had since she was a young girl. In addition to studying, during her first year of law school, Melissa volunteered with the 11th Judicial Circuit Guardian ad Litem Program, helping to protect the rights of children. Melissa also clerked at the Department of Justice, United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, where she received the Major Crimes Division’s first-ever Law Clerk Award for Truly Exceptional Achievement and Merit. She worked as a Dean’s Fellow during her second and third years of law school and was elected onto the prestigious Executive Board as Senior Notes and Comments Editor for the Miami Law Review. Melissa appeared on the law school’s Dean’s list several times and went on to graduate Cum Laude.
