| Description | Miles has over a twenty-year track record of successfully litigating and resolving a wide range of disputes in federal and state courts, in arbitration, through mediation, and as a mediator himself. Miles achieves favorable outcomes for clients by combining a practical, common-sense approach with finely honed legal skills, including the ability to cut quickly to the heart of a case, to make strategic use of the litigation tools available, and advocate persuasively by telling a compelling story. Miles serves as both a guide and partner to his clients, helping them understand their options and make the best decisions. He listens to client concerns beyond the legal issues presented to respond with strategies tailored to their goals, recognizing that every case is unique, and the conventional approach is not always the right one. Miles not only knows the rules governing lawsuits but has helped write them, both as co-chair of the Local Rules Committee for the Federal Bar Association of the Western District of Washington and as a member of the Trust and Estate Litigation Committee of the WSBA’s Real Property Probate and Trust section. Miles understands trial practice and dispute resolution from the inside out. Both a litigator and a former law clerk, Miles has tried cases and seen them tried, and decided, from the bench; likewise, Miles has both represented clients in mediation and served as a mediator, for the King and Snohomish County Dispute Resolution Centers since 2007 and as a paid mediator in litigated disputes. Miles joined Savitt Bruce & Willey in 2007. Before that, he practiced with Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, Riddell Williams PS, and served as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney at the Civil Division of the King County Prosecutor’s office. Miles also was a law clerk to Judge Carolyn Dimmick, then Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, magna cum laude. |
