| Description | Richard was born in Takoma Park, Maryland and grew up on the West Coast. Richard received his undergraduate degree from Reed College and his law degree from the University of Michigan. He has been practicing law in Maine since 1985 with a concentration in real estate, commercial finance, general business law, health care law and general estate planning. He joined Van Meer & Belanger in 1993 after practicing as a partner at a large Portland law firm. Richard has served for many years as Board Chair of the state-wide non-profit community service agency, Maine Pretrial Services, and contributes his legal services on cases for indigent clients through the Maine Volunteer Lawyers Project. In his free time, Richard officiates softball, volleyball and basketball from youth through collegiate levels, and operates a apiary. |
Tom Van Meer and Norm Belanger formed Van Meer & Belanger in January of 1989 when they each withdrew as partners from a large Portland law firm.
