| Description | Attorney Stephanie R. Messina grew up in Amherst, New York, and she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in legal studies, magna cum laude, from SUNY Buffalo’s Amherst campus in May 2009. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Albany Law School in May 2012.While earning her J.D. at Albany Law School, Stephanie interned with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York. Before that, she worked as an intern with the Albany Law School Health Clinic, which gave her an opportunity to represent low-income clients in their guardianship proceedings and Social Security Disability appeals.In her last year of law school, Stephanie was on the Board of Editors for the Albany Government Law Review. As Managing Editor of Research & Writing, she assisted in the publication of Baseball and the Law: America’s National Pastime. She also studied abroad in China, visiting Shanghi, Beijing, and Xian.Stephanie has always wanted to be an attorney, and she knew that her strong writing and negotiating skills were a perfect match for the profession. Ever since she began practicing law in 2013, Stephanie has enjoyed being an advocate for clients and helping them when they face difficult situations.We asked Stephanie what she likes most about her job. She said, As an attorney on the William Mattar team, I have the opportunity to assist real clients who have been injured and are struggling. The best part of my job is being able to reassure clients that they are not alone, and that we will face the coming legal challenges together. Making sure clients are properly compensated for their pain and suffering is so rewarding because I have the privilege of guiding them through what, for some, has been one of the worst experiences of their lives, and achieve a positive end result for them. I enjoy being both a sympathetic ear and a zealous advocate for clients through this process, and making sure to achieve the best possible end result for them in the least amount of time.Outside the office, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her son, husband, and two dogs.
