| Description | Ms. Matherne is a member: of the AILA Board of Governors. She is a Senior Counsel at Kuck Baxter Immigration after having served two years as the Senior Lead Attorney for the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Southeast Immigrant Freedom Initiative (SIFI). While at SIFI, Ms. Matherne exclusively represented immigrants detained at the Irwin County Detention Center before the Atlanta Immigration court. Prior to her work with SIFI, she founded her own law firm in Cumming, Georgia for eight years, where she focused on humanitarian and family-based immigration law, as well as all aspects of bond and removal defense before the immigration courts, as well as post conviction relief. Ms. Matherne is a member of Florida (2008) and Georgia (2010) State Bars, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Georgia (2016), American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and Tift Judicial Circuit Bar Association. This year, Elizabeth is proudly serving the Chapter Chair of the Georgia-Alabama Chapter of AILA. |
