| Description | Mitchell W. Legler is a business lawyer who specializes in representing clients in corporate, commercial and real estate law. He graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Eta Sigma, and received his law degree from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of The Order of the Coif and of the Editorial Board of the Virginia Law Review (1966-1967). Mr. Legler was born in 1942 in Alexandria, Virginia, and is admitted to practice law in the Florida Bar and the Virginia Bar and has practiced in Jacksonville, Florida for over 40 years. In 1976, he co-founded the firm of Commander Legler Werber Dawes Sadler and Howell, P.A. and served as its managing partner until that firm was merged into Foley & Lardner, an international law firm, in 1991. He served as Partner-in-Charge of the Jacksonville and Tallahassee offices of Foley & Lardner until 1995 when he withdrew to form the firm of Mitchell W. Legler, P.A., which was expanded to the present firm of Kirschner & Legler, P.A. in 2001. Kirschner & Legler’s Jacksonville-based clients include Stein Mart, Winn Dixie and Water Street Capital. Mr. Legler has guided three companies through successful initial public offerings (IPOs). Each became a Nasdaq National Market company with market capitalizations which reached in excess of $500 million. Mr. Legler serves as a director of Stein Mart, Inc. a public company, as well as several private companies in the international transportation, automotive dealership and real estate development fields. He has been the lead counsel in development of hundreds of millions of dollars of real estate over the last couple of years and represents major American and major international clients in real estate matters throughout the United States. Mr. Legler enjoys recognition in several professional legal directories, including: The Best Lawyers in America in the field of corporate law each year since its 1983 inception; Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business 2002-2009; the International Bar Association’s Who’s Who Legal, as a leader in Mergers & Acquisitions, and Florida Super Lawyers publication since 2007. He has lectured on commercial matters and co-authored publications on commercial law. |
