| Description | David was born and raised in Orlando, attending local elementary and Jr. High schools and graduating from Boone High School in 1983. After completing his undergraduate studies, he was employed by Orange County Public Schools as a teacher and coach until 1993, when he moved to Houston, Texas. There he was employed as an account executive for a regional telecommunications company. In 1995, David moved to Miami to attend law school at St. Thomas University School of Law. While in law school, he received a fellowship to work at Legal Services of Greater Miami where he assisted attorneys representing HIV positive clients attempting to gain disability status in order to obtain SSI social security benefits. He also met individually with clients and prepared estate documents such as wills, trusts, living wills, adult guardianships, durable powers of attorney, and healthcare surrogates. After graduating from St. Thomas in 1998, he returned to Orlando and began practicing law with his father, Mike Woods. As an attorney, David has extensive experience representing clients in commercial and residential real estate transactions dealing with all phases of the transaction including preparation and negotiation of letters of intent and contracts, resolving matters that arise during due diligence and inspection periods, preparation and review of title commitments and Schedule B-II documents, resolving issues relating to title defects, preparation and review of closing documents and closing the transaction. His additional areas of practice include: probate and guardianship administrations; estate planning, including the preparation of wills, living wills, health care surrogates, trusts and durable powers of attorney; landlord-tenant matters, including the negotiation and preparation of commercial and residential leases and representing both landlords and tenants in eviction actions and other disputes; and the formation of business entities such as corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships. David is a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando and the University Club. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Blankner School Foundation and the South Orlando Youth Football Association. |
